What is Pistachio?

 

Pistachios are one of the most fertile fruits and cookies grown in Turkey. This food, also called Green Gold; It is a gift to the whole world from the lands of Southeast Anatolia. This rare source of healing grown on pistachio tree has great commercial value as it is used in many areas of the food industry. It has large share in economy. Pistachio plant in Turkey, is one of the best investments. The most important ingredient of Turkish desserts, especially Turkish delight and baklava. It is also very lovingly consumed as a snack. When was it discovered?

History of pistachio goes back thousands of years. It is one of the oldest shelled fruits in the world. Eti Peanuts grown in Antep within the borders of the Ottoman Empire with the culture taken from Eti Civilization were exported to other countries and received different names. After the establishment of the Republic of Turkey,  it was discovered by traders; that Gaziantep is the original homeland of the pistachio. It is also grown in Kilis, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Şanlıurfa and Siirt.

What are the tastes and benefits?

 

Its nutritional value is very high as an energy source, a resistance provider and a preserver. Pulp amount is higher than rice, potato and wheat.
